It's obvious that GovernFi as a market segment is going to be huge. Just how huge is anyone's guess.
Corporate governance as an industry is growing in size and potential to impact the world we live in. Some estimates put the global size of the market for governance and related services at $16B a year, while others push it as high as $50B+ when including risk, compliance, and other related services.
What role does governance have in finance? Finance is governance. Buying power is governance power. Every dollar spent on a product, or asset, or service is a vote for the propagation of that thing.
A Board of Directors can delegate power and authority but never liability. They can assign specific tasks or decision-making authority to committees, executives, or external professionals, or even automations, but will still remain responsible for the outcome of those delegated tasks. How can we further align responsibilities to world with outcomes for leaders?
What percentage of corporate governance decisions will have the best outcome for the leaders of the organization versus the shareholders versus the workers and builders of the organization versus the future of humanity? How can we possibly measure these things?
The GovernFi protocol is indefinitely paused until we have better answers to some of these questions.
